"In the Old Testament the prophets announced that the Spirit of the Lord would rest on the hoped-for Messiah for his saving mission. The descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus at his baptism was a sign that this was he who was to come, the Messiah, the Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit; his whole life and his whole mission are carried out in total communion with the Holy Spirit whom the Father gives him "without measure." This fullness of the Spirit was not to remain uniquely the Messiah's but was to be communicated to the whole messianic people." CCC
For the majority of our parishioners, Confirmation is celebrated in the Fall of 9th grade. Confirmation is not a graduation, but a sending forth in discipleship. The Confirmandi, anointed with the Holy Spirit, are called to build up the Kingdom of God by their service to the community and by deepening their participation in the Eucharistic celebration. The Religious Education Office works with families and catechists to prepare our young people for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please call the Religious Education Office at 631-261-1306 with any questions.
With that being said, maybe you're looking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation because you did not do so as a child, or you are getting married and would like to be confirmed before your Wedding. If that is the case, contact the rectory at 631-261-1077 for more details about receiving the sacrament.
