Fr. da Luz's Bio
Father Alessandro da Luz has been associate pastor at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in East Northport and Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Greenlawn since 2024. Ordained to the priesthood in 2015, he has served as the associate pastor of Saint Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, NY and associate pastor of Our Holy Redeemer Parish in Freeport, NY. Named to the Diocesan Liturgical Commission in Rockville Centre in 2016, he has served as Master of Ceremonies for diocesan and cathedral liturgies. In November 2024, Father da Luz successfully defended his dissertation, “The One Priesthood of Jesus Christ: A Lex Credendi Approach to Understanding the Ordination of Bishops and Presbyters,” for the Doctor of Sacred Theology (S.Th.D.) in Liturgical Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake (Mundelein Seminary). Having earned a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) in 2021 from the Liturgical Institute at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Father da Luz has taught Sacramental Theology as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Joseph’s Seminary (Dunwoodie) in Yonkers, NY and has been an instructor in the Sacred Heart Institute for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy.
